Janathan Henson Jr.

My name is Janathan Lamar Henson Jr. I’m a 24-year-old Port Arthur, Texas native who has been in Houston since I was 18 years. I’m a graduating senior from Texas Southern University majoring in Radio, Television & Film with hopes of owning a night club. I am currently promote and emcee at clubs and parties. I’ve hosted events for JT, 9th Ward Judy, Ari & Moneyybag Yo. I work at some of the biggest nightclubs in Houston and have opened up for Megan Thee Stallion, NLE Choppa, The Game, and Gucci Mane. I have a passion for making people happy, making all guests feel like celebrities, and turning the clubs up.

I am a simple man from Texas, married with 3 kids, my forefathers participated in the civil war. I attended Texas Southern University. I am currently the President CEO of Visionary Outreach Inc. I am a former congressional candidate. I’m a former NAACP Branch President and currently serve on the Texas State NAACP Criminal Justice Committee. I have testified over twenty times in 2021 Texas Legislative session about voting rights, women’s rights, CPS, George Floyd Act.

Stanley “Slikk Lowrey” Smith

Born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska moved to Houston ,TX on track & field scholarship at Texas Southern Univ. where he received a degree in Broadcast Journalism. After graduating attended Media Tech Institute where he received a Audio Engineering Certification and has been music producers for 8 years. Currently reside in Las Vegas, Nevada. In 2020 received his first major Placement with August Alsina produced “Tonight” on The Product III: state of Emergency Album. SInce then has been able to collab with some of the biggest writers in the music industry such as Keyiara who has wrote for K. Michelle, Chris Brown, Jacquees, Young Jeezy, Jordan Sparks and more. Also been able to produce for Ze Forte who is and writer and artist under the Legendary Mase.

There is a long list of variety artist such as DCMBR, Aylek, Dylan jacon, Dion, Pocean, Aj Cobler, Hersch , ImTyrone, Yadda, Izo Rockz Ze Forte Mike Rose, he has been able to produce songs for just to name a few. Currently been able to branch out from just working with music to entertainers and social media influences who use music and beats to promote there business profiles on Instagram Reels and Tiktoks. In the process of working on the coming on music to professional wrestler Ricky Starks.

Kevin “Happy Bootz” Scott

A native Houstonian, Kevin has worked in PR in the entertainment industry and bolsters an impressive resume on the hip-hop scene. He has been making monumental corporate strides serving as the Chief Communications Officer for Hyde Park Goods. In his early career he helped curate many events that cultivated our stars into who they are today. He also styled & creatively directed many Houston Legend’s music videos and content rollouts even working with the likes of Netflix on “Hip-Hop Evolution.” His most recent work was leading the collaboration between the urban streetwear brand and the Houston Rockets.

John “Toon” Davis

He is the founder of RealToonTV, and one of the most influential independent media personalities in Texas. His YouTube platform has garnered over 71,000,000 cumulative views and 275,000 subscribers & along with having an additional 150,000 followers across other social media platforms. He has helped to introduce world renown influencers to the media space. His platform has featured Texas Legends like Z-Ro, That Mexican OT, Trae The Truth, SUC Mike D.

During his matriculation through college, he served as the State President of the Texas Youth & College Division of the NAACP, Founder of the SFA National Association of Journalism Chapter, President of the Young Democrats. Graduating with a degree in Sociology, he now uses his ethnographic knowledge to document & cultivate the hip-hop space across the country with intentions of reducing recidivism and remedying the ills that lead to life in a permanent caste system known as the prison industrial complex.

Jaleah Davis

Houston’s very own Forbes 30 under 30, Jaleah Davis, is one of the youngest media moguls in the nation; she was recently pronounced as the youngest to own a television network nationwide. She has produced several large corporate projects with the likes of Footlocker, and the City of Houston. She owns and operates her television studio out of the city of Houston, where the former mayor, Sylvester Turner, showed up and assisted her with the ribbon cutting ceremony. Her most recent work was hosting a woman entrepreneurship event partnered with the city hall. She truly embodies what being a media entrepreneur & creative is about, most importantly she serves as an advocate for the empowerment of black women.

Kathleen McElroy

Kathleen McElroy is a professor in the School of Journalism and Media at The University of Texas at Austin.

She received her Ph.D. from the School of Journalism in December 2014, after nearly 30 years as a professional journalist. At The New York Times, she held various management positions, including associate managing editor, dining editor, deputy sports editor and deputy editor of the website. She previously worked for The National, an all-sports daily and Newsday on Long Island as well as the Austin American-Statesman, The Huntsville Item and the Bryan-College Station Eagle in Texas.

While earning her doctorate, she was a Harrington Graduate Fellow and received awards for teaching and research. Her research interests include racial discourse, collective memory, sports media and obituaries.

She previously was an assistant professor at Oklahoma State University, where she taught news reporting and sports media.

She received a Masters of Arts from New York University, with a focus on race and media, and a Bachelor of Arts in broadcast journalism from Texas A&M.

    Nikki Duncan

    Nikki Duncan, Ed. D. has over 25 years of experience within human resources, career services, and training and development.   Dr. Duncan has worked in corporate, non-profit, public secondary education and higher education.  She specializes in recruitment, career coaching, talent development, performance management, and employee engagement.

    Dr. Duncan joined the University of Houston in 2014 as a Sr. Employment Representative.  She was promoted to the manager of Talent Acquisition in 2020 and is now the Director of Talent Acquisition and Development.  In her current role, her responsibilities include leading teams of Sr. Recruiters to attract top talent for all staff open positions at the University of Houston and Sr. Trainers to conduct professional development at all levels to help grow and retain staff.  She is also an active member of the Black Leadership Network (BLN) and is the Scholarship Chair where they award deserving students scholarships each year.

    Dr. Duncan holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Houston, a Master’s degree in Organizational Management and a Master’s in Education- Curriculum and Instruction, and a Doctorate in Education from the University of Phoenix.

    Dr. Duncan is an active contributor towards student success by participating in activities that assist the student to develop life long career development skills such as resume writing and interviewing.  She is constantly on the move giving workshops on how to write resumes that will pass the ATS, interviewing skills, and networking.  She is also the proud wife of one of TSU’s finest, Dr. Clyde E. Duncan, Jr.
