[About the Commweek]
Welcome to the SOC's Annual Commweek

This fast-paced academic symposium brings together leading innovators in the media, music, and film industries. Renowned journalists, entrepreneurs, content creators, influencers, scholars, and television and radio personalities shared their real-world knowledge and perspectives with participants who were mainly students. The purpose is to showcase the fundamentals of education in journalism, speech communication, media, radio/television/film, entertainment, and recording careers.

THE COMM WEEK

Communication Week (Comm Week) is designed to complement, supplement, and showcase student learning modules in journalism, communication studies, media, radio/television/film, entertainment and recording industry management careers. Innovative tactics, including current and future trends are shared by scholars, entrepreneurs and experts.

Communication Week is integral in integrating classroom theory with real world practical experience. We want to provide our students with opportunities for networking to ensure their future success. We have prominent professionals confirmed to participate and share practical tips.

PURPOSE

  • To bring together students, scholars, researchers, government representatives, business, and communities to share their knowledge, expertise and perspectives on selected themes with the university community and the larger public audience.
  • To promote understanding within the university and the global community worldwide.
  • To bring public awareness to the significance of the current media trends throughout the world. To recognize the impact of media and the leading role it plays.

PARTNERSHIP

On behalf of the Communication Week (Comm Week) 2022 Fundraising Committee, we are asking for your sponsorship support. The 2022 celebration will commemorate the 47th anniversary of the founding of the School of Communication. Comm Week 2022 will take place from March 21-25, 2022.

The theme is “Future Makers: Communicating in the Digital Age”. Our annual event is designed to complement, supplement, and showcase what our students are learning in their respective programs. Throughout the week, we bring in professional guest speakers, host networking panels, offer small breakout sessions, and share work that our students & faculty are doing, both in and out of the classroom. Additionally, during the week, we host community college and high school students from the Houston area in hopes that some of them will consider Texas Southern University to further their education.

In order to ensure that our students have the best possible experience during Comm Week, we need Partners.  We are happy to receive sponsors, monetary donations, and in-kind donations in order to fulfill our mission.
